There are 203 steps to the top of the lighthouse. What I found interesting is that the center stairwell is the same size from bottom to top. The brick walls outside the bottom are like 10 ft thick and at the top they taper all the way down to 4 or 5 bricks thick - which is how you engineer a soar thumb to stick out in the middle of a hurricane and have it still be around a couple hundred years later.
