So this year I planted a purple variety of jalapenos to go along with my regular ones that turn green and red. Funny though, on the inside they are still green, just purple halfway through.

Peppers cross pollinate so you have to keep diff. varieties far away from each other so this does not happen again. What's terrible is when you plant Bell peppers next to Jalapenos (or some other spicy variety) & you Bell peppers are hot & you Jalapenos are sweet. Not a nice surprise.
