So my last journal was almost a year ago, after a steady upkeep of at least once a month.  I have fallen out of the online stuff a bit as of late, the same answer as many of you have I suppose, too many things and never enough time.  My father fought his cancer last year...that seems to be under control for the time being, he's getting back steady to the farm work these days, so that's eased up a bit on me.  The work has picked up pace though, lots of things always going on there, getting ready to grow and move into a new building soon, so that is a good thing.  Duke and the boys are doing well, and so are the cats, and its baby season out in the cow pasture again, already the back hill is littered with quite a few little baby spots as I call them (what it looks like when you have black cows and see their babies from a distance away).  Last night I got a chance to go exploring the creek banks and the woods.....it's very early yet, but there are some starting tell tale signs that spring is near.  So anyways, just thought I'd check in, I'm still here haha, and hope that all of you are doing well too. :D

April Update

3 min read
Well sorry guys, I've kinda been hiding out and lurking in the shadows a lot more here lately.  Just have a ton of things going on and kind of been feeling reclusive from the internets of late.  My last grandparent died a few weeks ago at the age of 87.  It was quiet and peaceful and he just went in his sleep, so not terribly tragic, or unforeseen at that age, but still a lot of family stuff to deal with and go through and all that.  Tuesday I took my dad up to the Dr's in Indy for a "routine" checkup, and while there he mentions the fact of "Oh yeah, I haven't peed since Saturday night."  That's kind of a big deal.  They admitted him directly to the ER from the Dr. office, and hes been up there since then.  So I've been running back and forth from here to the north side of Indy every day (75 miles one way), and then rushing home to try and take care of his 80+ some cows, which my uncle has thankfully been helping with a lot as well.  Yesterday they narrowed it down to an obstruction or blockage between the kidneys and the bladder, and today they are going to go in and try a corrective surgery.  In the mean time I've got feed to grind, and silage to serve, and hay to carry out to keep those hungry hungry bovines happy, as well as my day job in town.  I've been facing some issues and depression type stuff of my own making, which I ask no sympathy for since I've pretty much brought it on myself, but all this extra heaped on top of it is starting to wear me down and take its toll a bit.  Ah well such is life I guess.  Not to sound all doom and gloom, I want to leave you guys on a positive note, even if I'm not feeling it at the moment, so here is a new thing I saw on my news updates from DA about sharing 3d models in our journals now...since that's sorta one of my things, I of course had to try it out and was pleasantly pleased with it, so here's my hybrid engine design in a convenient journal viewer format you all can see and play with.  Let me know how it works for you:

Howdy Folks!
Just thought I'd check in and see how you all are surviving the Winter so far.  We got a ton of the white stuff here today, maybe if I'm lucky I can sneak a few pics tomorrow.  Things are going pretty good around here.  I've been doing not so much on the photos as of late but I have been attempting more writing.  I just did audio for my latest poem and put it here : soundcloud.com/curt-baxter/rav…; if anyone is interested in hearing it.  Otherwise, its been business as usual, but I did want to take an opportunity to start the new year off right with some of the cool stuff I've seen from you guys here lately:

One of my good friends on here just got her first DD so congrats on that, but I think I like this photo of hers even better:

Oh wow, hi guys!  Been a while.  So my last journal was all about my buddies and their crazy TV adventures.  We did finally make it on the 2nd to last episode not counting the xmas special.  So here's my fifteen seconds of fame right here: www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1…; , even got the slow mo action going on haha.  All I can say is anyone that chooses to put them selves out there on reality tv, just has to have fun with it and not take themselves too seriously.  So that's that, winter is just a couple days away now, though it's been winter for a month already it seems here.  I've had a really good crazy insane busy mixed up fall.  There are just soooo many things going on in my life right now.  I've been neglecting my photography a bit here lately, but I do have 3 new poems out I'm pretty excited about that I've recently added to the ol gallery.  I've had a recent influx of creative energy it seems.  I've still been keeping up with you all lurking behind the shadows every day, even if I've not been quite as vocal as of late.  I did want to stop by though and wish each and every one of you the warmest of holiday wishes, good times with your families, and a safe and happy end of the year.  :tighthug:

Well Tonight is the night. For years I've been claiming all my crazy neighbors and their backwoods antics would make a heck of a TV show, and now they've gone and done it...who'da thunk it!? Porter Ridge starts tonight on Discovery channel at 10:30 PM.
